Facility Maintenance Intern

Wangard Partners is seeking an energetic, self-motivated high school individual to join the team as a Facility Maintenance Intern.  This part-time position will work with the Director of Maintenance Operations and the rest of the property team. Summer Internship in Facility Maintenance Operations

Our internship offers the opportunity to work at Wangard Partners, Inc. and experience the width and depth of Wangard’s various operations from the viewpoint of a maintenance technician and building engineer.

Your Mentor and Guide: our Director of Maintenace Operations (DOMO), a Certified Facility Manager.
With our DOMO you will:

  • Be introduced to all aspects of Wangard’s operations
  • Complete property inspections with the property and asset managers
  • Review the bidding process of service contracts and monitor vendor relationships
  • Learn and understand the basics of managing capital improvement projects
  • Prepare maintenance reports and other job-related documentation
  • Participate in industry trade shows and events with trade associations and our vendors
  • Virtual Reality experience in Trade Training through Skill Mill.
You will experience: Working alongside our maintenance technicians, building engineers and facility managers. See how they work hands on and with our vendor partners in all aspects of the building trades.
  • Building Automation and Access control
  • Fire/Life Safety
  • Appliance repairs, equipment repairs, painting, HVAC repairs, carpentry, basic electrical, plumbing, glass replacement, and screen repair
  • General building façade and envelope work such as, gutter & down spout repair, siding repairs, window & door repairs, caulking and leak detection
  • Assist with all work necessary to quickly bring vacated units to rent ready condition
  • Landscaping and grounds management
  • Monitor the pool operations daily and maintain the appropriate health department standards.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.

  • A valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation.

Physical Demands: Physical demands include the ability to lift 50 pounds.  The intern will be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach using feet, legs, back, arms and hands, talk and hear.  The intern may occasionally be required to climb. Specific vision requirements include the ability to use close vision; distance vision; color vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  The intern will be required to work at a personal computer and talk on the phone for extended periods of time. Must possess the ability to detect auditory and/or visual alarms.
