Senior Accountant
Reports to:  Controller
Wangard Partners, a growing multi-entity company is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Accountant.  This position will report to the Corporate Controller.  The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to monthly close which includes general ledger reconciliations and preparation of financial statements for a number of assigned entities, preparation of draw requests to lenders during the construction process, maintenance of fixed asset records, preparation of work papers on an annual basis for tax preparers, work with the Corporate Controller on projects as needed, work with property managers and development staff to put together information as needed.
Essential Duties:
  • Maintain tenant ledgers.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and manage monthly construction draw process.
  • Maintain job costing and ensure accuracy.
  • Monthly Financial Statement preparation.
  • Prepare workpapers for tax preparers at year end; coordinate year end tax preparation for buildings assigned.
  • Review & Approve A/P invoices.
  • Develop an in depth knowledge of all accounting software systems.
  • Assist property management with budgeting and CAM reconciliations.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments.
The position will report directly to the Controller.  The following describes the ideal experience and attributes a successful candidate will offer:
  • A Bachelor’s in Accounting is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation (or CPA eligible) preferred.
  • Three to Five (3-5) years of public accounting audit experience preferred.
  • Strong general ledger knowledge gained through experience within an organization that maintains GAAP based accrual accounting.
  • Strong computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with any variety of general ledger accounting software is required. Experience with Sage Timberline software is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate concerns in a concise and timely manner.
  • High degree of detail orientation and conscientiousness concerning the timely completion of assignments.
  • Desire to take ownership and responsibility for work product.
  • Responsive team player with the ability to quickly prioritize among numerous pressing tasks.
  • High degree of credibility and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional work ethic.

Physical Demands
Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.  The employee will be regularly required to sit; stand; walk; reach using feet, legs, back, arms and hands; talk and hear.  The employee may occasionally be required to climb.  The employee will be required to work at a personal computer and talk on the phone for extended periods of time.  Must possess the ability to detect auditory and/or visual alarms and be available to work extended/flexible hours and weekends, as needed. 
This position is a full time salaried position.  This position requires the availability to work some nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.  This position also requires regular attendance and active participation/planning at all company functions and events.
